A heartbreaking incident occurred at an upstate New York elementary school, where a special education teacher tragically passed away in her classroom, along with her unborn baby, as announced by the school.
According to a news release from Kendall Elementary School, 29-year-old Courtney Fannon was discovered unresponsive in her classroom after school hours on Friday, March 8, as reported by Fox News.
Despite efforts to save her, both Ms. Fannon and her unborn child were pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Ms. Fannon, who was expecting a daughter named Hadley Jaye in about four weeks, was remembered fondly on a GoFundMe page. Described as loving, genuine, and organized, she always prioritized her students, making a positive impact on their lives.
The school expressed that Ms. Fannon had a deep passion for teaching special needs students and was known for her warm smile and friendly demeanor.
In light of the tragic event, mental health counselors will be available to support students at the school.
The GoFundMe campaign, aimed at providing assistance to Ms. Fannon’s family, has raised over $70,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
