On a busy New York City street, actor Steve Buscemi was attacked by a man, but thankfully, he’s doing alright. The 66-year-old, known for his roles in “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire,” was punched in the face, leaving his left eye bruised, swollen, and bleeding. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to his publicist, the assault happened unexpectedly in Midtown Manhattan. Buscemi’s publicist shared that while he was shaken by the incident, he’s grateful for everyone’s support and well-wishes.

The assault made headlines when it was reported by the New York Post. The New York Police Department acknowledged the incident in a statement but didn’t provide further details. However, Buscemi’s representative confirmed that he was the victim mentioned in the police statement.

Fortunately, there haven’t been any arrests yet, but the police are actively investigating the matter.

This isn’t the first time a celebrity has been attacked in New York City recently. Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was also targeted. He was hit in the back of the neck with a rock while walking in Central Park at the end of March. Stuhlbarg bravely chased down his attacker, who was later apprehended by the police.

It’s a concerning trend, but hopefully, with continued attention and efforts from law enforcement, such random acts of violence can be prevented in the future.
