The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is gearing up for a special performance by The Rolling Stones, after two previous attempts were thwarted. The festival, spread over two weekends, kicks off with various acts performing on 14 stages at the Fair Grounds race course. The Stones are set to perform next Thursday, May 2, with tickets already sold out.
In 2019, the band’s appearance was canceled due to Mick Jagger’s heart surgery, and in 2021, the festival was canceled due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. Now, festival producer Quint Davis assures that this time will be special, as it marks the Stones’ first time playing at Jazz Fest.
The festival’s opening day features acts like Widespread Panic, The Beach Boys, Stephen Marley, and John Boutte. The weather forecast looks promising, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s.
The anticipation for The Rolling Stones’ performance is high, with many fans eager to attend. Although tickets for their day sold out quickly, other days of the festival still have tickets available for purchase online.
In addition to music, the festival celebrates the diverse culture of New Orleans and Louisiana, featuring various styles of music, including blues, R&B, gospel, Cajun, Zydeco, and more. This year, Colombia’s rhythms will also be highlighted, with close to 200 Colombian artists scheduled to participate.
And let’s not forget about the food! Festival-goers can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, including crawfish bread, pecan catfish, turducken po-boys, boudin, jambalaya, and shrimp and grits, among others.
